About Me

My Story

I grew up going to a small rural church with my family. On a good day, there were eighty-or-so people in attendance, and most of them were my extended family!

I loved Sunday School, the hymns of faith, and Sunday lunch at my grandparents. I worked hard to be a good girl, please my parents, and teachers in school, but something was missing.  Trying to keep up with all the “be a good person” rules was daunting!

I found the answer to what was missing when our family found a different church. It’s where I learned of the unconditional love of Jesus, met my husband, and unexpectedly realized I was a minister’s wife!

Learning to read the Bible and study the passages has taught me that I don’t need to live from self-doubt and the fear of failure.

Over the decades of ministry life as a wife, mother, and friend, I’ve found that my relationship with Jesus is directly related to my relationship with God’s Word.

I’ve discovered that the more I know God’s Word, the easier it is to live God’s Word. When God’s Word overflows in my life, it’s easier to share God’s Word.

The Bible provides us with an example of what a Godly, spiritually growing woman looks like in the book of Proverbs, chapter 31. Using lessons from this passage, it’s my joy to mentor you on how to grow in your faith journey with lessons I’ve learned along the way

Faith

A Proverbs 31 woman is not without her own set of fears and insecurities. But faith is not the absence of fear. Faith acknowledges its fear, then looks to Jesus for the strength and confidence needed to face any of life’s ups and downs.

The Bible tells us 365 times, “Do not be afraid”, and while that sounds simple, it isn’t. When we learn to know God’s Word, our faith grows stronger. When we read, study, and memorize God’s Word, we can rest and trust in His perfect care and timing for all that concerns us.

Faith is not what we can see, but what we believe.

Hebrews 11:1

Family

The family was God’s design from the very beginning. But no earthly family is perfect! We are frail and flawed and bring into each of our relationships our own set of hurts and brokenness.

Family is more than the people you are related to. Family can also be the people you choose.

I’ve found that being connected to a local, Bible teaching church allows us to find our spiritual family.

Our spiritual families aren’t perfect either, but they are designed to encourage, motivate, and inspire us to live God’s Word wherever we find ourselves.

In my opinion, if we want to become like the Proverbs 31 woman example from the Bible, then we women need to connect to support and complement one another.

Matthew 12:49-50

Home

Home is more than the house we live in or the pretty things we acquire and style. Home is a warm hug after a long day, the smell of a favorite meal on the table, and a comfortable place to be present with others.

The homes we create are a reflection of who we are and can be a place of sanctuary for all who enter our doorways. It takes time and intentionality, but the reward is that we find delight in the work of our hands.

The Proverbs 31 woman we read about in the Bible appears super busy at first glance, but further study reveals that she simply did what was needed for the moment as she lived each day in faith.

When God’s Word is a priority in our lives, our homes become places where His peace, joy, and harmony reside.
